Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking an Accountant to oversee the department’s internal accounting and reporting functions, supporting management with fiscal functions including budget formulation and monitoring of accounts to ensure funds availability and policy compliance.

Key duties include preparing balance sheets and financial statements, performing trend analyses, ensuring accurate journal entries and reconciliations, and assisting with year-end close and project reporting within Facilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles (GAAP).
• Ability to prepare financial and accounting records and reports.
• Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.

Responsibilities

• Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, and obligations to predict future revenues and expenses.
• Reports finances to management and suggests resource utilization and budget guidance.
• Verifies accuracy of journal vouchers and classifications.
• Reconciles expenditure and revenue accounts.
• Reviews reimbursements, requisitions, and purchase orders.
• Supports year-end close with accrual entries.
• Maintains and analyzes project financials for Facilities operations.
