Job summary

gpac is seeking a Project Accountant to join a collaborative accounting team in the Greater St. Louis area. You will partner with project teams to monitor budgets, billings, costs, and projections on large mechanical and general construction projects.

You will set up new projects, ensure contracts and compliance, and prepare monthly invoices to support healthy cash flow. Strong Excel and Vista/Viewpoint skills are preferred; travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of accounting, billing, or job cost administration experience (construction a plus).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized while managing multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with cross-department collaboration.
• Proficiency in Excel and general accounting software; Vista/Viewpoint a bonus.
• Self-starter mindset with curiosity to learn and grow in a dynamic company.
• Ability to travel up to 25% for regional team collaboration or site visits.

Responsibilities

• Partner with project teams to manage financial health of jobs—track budgets, billings, costs, projections.
• Set up new projects and ensure contracts, insurance, and compliance documentation are in place.
• Prepare monthly invoices and progress billings with accuracy and timeliness.
• Review purchase orders and code/vendor invoices; assist with payment processing.
• Monitor project budgets, assist with cost-to-complete reviews, flag variances.
• Support month-end reporting, reconciliations, and other accounting functions.
• Provide exceptional communication and service to internal teams, clients, and vendors.
