Path Construction is seeking a qualified Project Accountant to join our organization in Charlotte, NC, as part of our operations team. We are a rapidly growing commercial general contractor with offices in Arlington Heights, IL; Charlotte, NC; Knoxville, TN; Tampa, FL; Dallas, TX; and Phoenix, AZ, with projects ongoing throughout the United States.

Key Responsibilities

1. Set up new projects in the Job Cost System.
2. Process payroll, insurance, and overhead allocations to projects.
3. Review and track general ledger postings of construction draws for multiple projects.
4. Ensure Subcontractor/Supplier Waivers of Lien are received and accurate.
5. Verify all Path Compliance requirements (W-9’s, Insurance Certificates, EEO, etc.) are met by Subcontractors and Suppliers.
6. Manage accounts receivable and oversee construction billing and collections.
7. Follow up on outstanding invoices to maintain positive cash flow.
8. Assist with special projects as needed.
9. Process contracts and change orders accurately and promptly.
10. Analyze project variances; collaborate with project teams for corrective actions.
11. Report on project profitability to management.
12. Coordinate with clients to meet reporting needs.
13. Close out project accounts upon completion.
14. Prepare government reports and tax returns related to projects.
15. Gather information for external auditors as required.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with the right skills and attitude, including:

1. A college degree in accounting or business administration is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
2. 2-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in construction project accounting.
3. Exceptional customer service and communication skills across all organizational levels.
4. Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel; experience with Sage Construction CRE 300 and Paychex is a plus.
5. Construction accounting experience is advantageous.
