Job summary

Pike Corporation seeks a Project Accountant to support revenue and cost functions within the project accounting team. The role emphasizes accuracy, timely close, and collaboration with field operations, while offering learning opportunities and a strong work ethic in a team environment.

Based in Mount Airy, NC, this on-site position reports to the Director of Project Accounting and contributes to standard cost entries, revenue accruals, and GL reconciliations as part of the close process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and intermediate functions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the financial close process for revenue and cost functions.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile to the general ledger.
  • Support field operations with financial adjustments and information.
  • Communicate effectively with multiple levels of the organization.

Job description

Position Summary

The Project Accountant plays an active role in the financial close process, supporting both revenue and cost functions. Responsibilities include a mix of transactional processing, reporting, reconciliation, and review, with opportunities for financial analysis. The position will require a willingness to learn. It will also require the ability to succeed in a team environment, a propensity to meet strict deadlines, and a solid work ethic. Additionally, the ability to communicate effectively with various levels of the organization is necessary. The position would be a good fit for someone with strong processing experience looking to broaden their skill set and gain experience in analysis. You will report to the Director of Project Accounting working with the Project Accounting team. You will work on site in Mount Airy, NC.

Essential Functions
  • Project Accounting including:
    • Maintain cost rates
    • Perform weekly burden costing and allocations
    • Field operations' requests for financial adjustments and information
    • Field external audit requests
  • Participate in the financial close process:
    • Book standard cost entries
    • Process revenue accruals
    • Prepare journal entries
    • Reconcile to general ledger accounts
  • Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with MS Excel intermediate functions (Pivot, functions, lookups)
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills; customer service orientation
