Job summary

StevenDouglas is partnering with a client to fill a Project Accountant role on a contract-to-hire basis. This position will work in office on a hybrid basis in NW Houston, collaborating with project teams to manage accounting for engineering projects.

The role covers AP/AR, invoicing, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, tax filings, and close processes within the ERP system, with emphasis on project-based accounting and intercompany activity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, project accounting, AP/AR.
• Experience with ERP systems (Deltek, IFS) and project-based environments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable and expense management, including supplier invoices, employee expense reports, and credit card reconciliations.
• Review and issue invoices in collaboration with project managers.
• Monitor aged receivables and assist with collection activities.
• Assist with credit management and customer account maintenance.
• File and remit taxes, including sales and use tax and property tax.
• Prepare journal entries including accruals, prepayments, payroll journals, and intercompany transactions.
• Reconcile balance sheet and control accounts monthly.
• Perform bank reconciliations and assist with cash book management.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring adherence to close schedules.
• Support project setup, maintenance, and financial administration within the ERP system.
• Assist with intercompany accounting.
• Support annual audits.
• Support compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives and documentation updates.
