Job summary

Project Accountant II position with a manufacturing client is seeking a professional to manage project financials from setup through closeout. You will coordinate with project managers, operations, and the accounting team on project accounting, AP/AR, and general accounting tasks.

Responsibilities include tracking costs, budgets, billings, WIP, revenue recognition, and month-end close support. Strong Excel and ERP skills are required, with 2+ years of accounting experience in a project-based

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting experience in project-based environment.
• Experience with project accounting, construction accounting, or similar.
• Working knowledge of job costing, WIP, accruals, deferrals, and revenue recognition.
• Experience with AP, AR, billing, and account reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Track job costs, project budgets, committed costs, and labor activity.
• Assist with project setup, budget maintenance, and financial closeout.
• Prepare customer invoices, progress billings, and final billing packages.
• Track retainage, billing status, and outstanding customer balances.
• Assist with percentage-of-completion and revenue recognition calculations.
• Monitor project margins, cost-to-complete estimates, and budget variances.
• Prepare and maintain project accruals, deferrals, reclasses, and adjusting entries.
• Assist with WIP, backlog, and over/underbilling reporting.
• Review vendor invoices for proper project and GL coding.
• Assist with AP activity, vendor statements, open purchase orders, and payment-related issues.
• Support AR activity, including customer billing questions, collections follow-up, and account reconciliation.
• Work with project managers to resolve cost, billing, and budget discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and supporting schedules.
• Assist with month-end close, reconciliations, and audit support.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Experience with project accounting, construction accounting, job costing, or a similar project-based environment preferred
• Working knowledge of job costing, WIP, accruals, deferrals, and revenue recognition
• Experience with AP, AR, billing, and account reconciliations
• Ability to review project costs and identify budget or billing discrepancies
• Strong Excel and ERP system skills
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working directly with accounting, project management, operations, vendors, and customers
