Job description

We are a luxury homebuilder and developer with more than 35 years of experience, is seeking a full-time Project Accountant to join our development team. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and driven professional. The Project Accountant will be responsible for preparing integrated expense analyses, financial projections, and reports. Reporting to the Development Controller, this role is a hands-on position and will work closely with all Development team members to ensure strong management reporting processes are in place. This role will be exposed to every aspect of the Division and require a deep understanding of accounting systems and processes.

Responsibilities

Develop financial models to analyze the impact of pricing/cost decisions on profitability.
Leverages accounting systems to monitor KPIs and expenses to call out trends impacting business results. Monitor expenses monthly, weekly, and daily, and provide appropriate analysis and support to ensure achievement of the budget for development projects.
Work closely with banks for construction loan draws. Must understand loan documents, schedules, and requirements.
Partners with operation and construction teams to manage forecasting, support budget reviews, and support spending updates as necessary. Develop reports on operational efficiency and conduct other ad-hoc analyses as required. Process invoices promptly and correctly.
Assist the Controller in budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of investments or risks.
Maintain departmental reporting to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting of P&L and balance sheet financial statements.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience, with a focus on large project development in Housing industry.
Proficient with Accounting Software systems. Prior Sage 300 Accounting experience required.
Excellent with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Strong understanding and foundation of accounting principles, financial reporting, and analysis.
