Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a Nursing Assistant II to support the professional caregiver in patient care, transport, room setup and a range of clerical tasks in the Special Progressive Care Unit.

Responsibilities include assisting with examinations, documenting changes in patient condition, coordinating communications, QA audits, and providing clinical support such as patient education materials and routine care activities.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in verbal and written English.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of clerical or customer service experience and six months of related nursing assistant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Critically review patient care documentation and report significant changes to a nurse or physician.
• Provide a variety of clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, review orders for clarity, transcribe orders, maintain medical records, and perform quality assurance audits and inventory checks.
• Provide administrative and clerical support including PI audits and data entry.
• Provide clinical support: clean work area, troubleshoot equipment, transport patients and supplies, and orient new employees and students.
• Provide direct personal care to patients as outlined in plan of care activities and document understanding of instructions.
