Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital is seeking a Clinical Supervisor, RN for the Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit in downtown Washington, DC. The role focuses on daily unit operations, patient care excellence, and developing the nursing team to achieve outstanding outcomes.

Qualifications include a BSN, DC RN licensure, 3+ years in Progressive/Intermediate Care, and ACLS/BLS; PCCN is a plus. Leadership experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Active RN license in the state where the hospital is located (DC) and ability to obtain before start.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience in Progressive Care/Intermediate Care.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS required; PCCN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily clinical and operational activities of the Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit.
• Mentor and support nursing staff’s professional growth and performance improvement.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care and achieve unit goals.
• Address and resolve patient or staff concerns promptly.
• Participate in staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and hiring processes.
• Monitor unit metrics and drive performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintain an active presence on the unit to support staff and provide guidance.
