Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital is seeking a Clinical Supervisor, RN for the Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit in downtown Washington, DC. You will lead daily unit operations, mentor staff, ensure adherence to clinical standards, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive excellent patient outcomes.

This role emphasizes leadership, strong communication, and proactive problem-solving in a dynamic hospital environment, with a focus on staff development and quality improvement.

Qualifications

  • BSN required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Active RN license in the state (Washington, DC) or ability to obtain before start.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience in Progressive/Intermediate care.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS required; PCCN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinical and operational activities of the Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit.
  • Mentor and support nursing staff for professional growth and performance improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Address and resolve patient or staff concerns in a timely manner.
  • Participate in staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and hiring processes.
  • Monitor unit metrics and implement performance improvements.
  • Maintain an active presence on the unit to support staff.
