Job summary

FM Industries, a premier manufacturer, is seeking a Programmer for CMM with Zeiss Calypso expertise in Livermore, CA. You will develop programs from CAD models, review drawings for GD&T accuracy, and generate inspection plans for first piece setups, AQL, SPC, and final inspection.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience programming Zeiss CMMs in a machining environment.
• Zeiss Calypso programming experience is required.
• Ability to use and interpret basic measuring tools (weight gauge, micrometer, caliper, gauge blocks, thread gauges).
• Strong written and verbal communication; professional interaction with staff and customers.

Responsibilities

• Review customer drawings for GD&T errors and provide feedback.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Develop CMM programs using CAD models. Contribute to development of quality inspection plans for first piece setup acceptance, AQL, SPC, and final inspection. Interpret customer drawings and specifications, and reference company work instructions and process travelers.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Advanced blueprint reading, GD&T & shop math (Trigonometry)
• Develop CMM programs in a virtual offline software using CAD based models
• Ability to review customer drawings for errors in GD&T and provide feedback
• Analyze drawings, part specifications, tolerances, and design data to generate CMM programs
• Responsible for Reviewing CMM programs prior to release for production

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 3 - 5 years’ experience programming Zeiss CMMs preferably in a machining environment
• Zeiss Calypso programming experience is required.
• Ability to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools including weight gauge, micrometer, caliper scale (linear), gauge blocks, thread gauges, and comparative standards
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interact with fellow employees and customers in a professional manner
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Independent; can work with limited supervision and direction

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

• Certified training to ASME Y14.5:2009 preferred
• NPI or R&D experience preferred
