Job summary

FM Industries in Livermore, CA is seeking a skilled Machinist for the Day Shift to operate a vertical milling machine. You will set up and run parts, read blueprints with GD&T, and ensure conformance through inspection practices.

The role requires CNC programming knowledge, G&M coding, and capability in 5-axis concepts, with mentoring duties and adherence to shop procedures. Safety and quality are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Experience reading blueprints and applying GD&T to manufacturing specifications.
• Able to program CNC machines and interpret G-code and M-code.
• Proficient in 5-axis machining concepts and multi-access setups.
• Skilled in inspection practices and quality control.
• Familiar with tool probing and CNC set-up procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run repeat parts with varying complexity with minimal direction.
• Read blueprints, tooling instructions, and charts to meet specs.
• Set up and run all facets of assigned work.
• Provide technical guidance to operators and junior machinists.

THIS POSITION IS FOR DAY SHIFT– Monday thru Friday - Day Shift 4am - 12:30pm

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for set-up and run repeat or proven part(s) with simple to high complexity with minimal direction.

• Responsible for utilizing shop paper procedure including updates, signatures and stamps, counting quantities, labeling and non-conformance related activities
• Read blueprints, tooling instructions, and standard charts for specifications
• Set-up, and run all facets of work assigned
• Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to operators and lower-level machinists as required

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ work experience
• Practical knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of blueprint reading, GD & T
• Extensive knowledge of accepted inspection practices
• Knowledge of CNC programming and G & M code
• Basic to intermediate tool probe
• Demonstrated ability at operating computer numerical control machines
• Understand 5 axis machining concepts
