Program Therapist - Intensive Outpatient Program (OCD)
Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager and the Program Unit Chief, evaluates, diagnoses, and treats a wide range of psychosocial problems. Applies individual and group cognitive-behavioral interventions to assist patients and their families in resolving personal and environmental issues related to psychiatric conditions, aiming to enhance their psychosocial functioning. Demonstrates ethical and collaborative behavior to ensure quality care and foster positive department and program relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Completes initial psychiatric and behavioral evaluations as assigned.
  • Conducts biopsychosocial assessments, including relevant history, psychosocial stressors, initial diagnosis, and treatment formulation.
  • Develops individualized behavioral treatment plans.
  • Provides evidence-based cognitive-behavioral interventions, including daily exposure-based group CBT in the IOP.
  • Conducts family consultation sessions.
  • Monitors treatment progress and clinical outcomes.
  • Leads and co-leads exposure-based CBT aftercare groups.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning to meet patients' unique needs.
  • Updates physicians and psychologists on patients' acuity levels, managing potential emergencies such as suicidal or homicidal ideation.
  • Advocates for patients' needs within the department and with outside agencies.
  • Provides consultation to inpatient and PHP programs to maintain continuity of care.
  • Assists with community outreach and referral triaging.
Requirements:
  • Education: Master’s Degree or higher.
  • Training and Experience: Experience in psychiatric settings required. Training in exposure-based CBT, especially for OCD, anxiety, or hoarding, is necessary. Experience in group and individual psychotherapy is required.
  • Special Qualifications: Interest and commitment to the programs at Butler Hospital and the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University.
