Program Therapist - Intensive Outpatient Program (OCD)

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Program Manager and the Program Unit Chief, evaluates, diagnoses, and treats a wide range of psychosocial problems. Applies individual and group cognitive-behavioral interventions to assist patients and their families in resolving personal and environmental issues related to psychiatric conditions, aiming to achieve the highest level of psychosocial functioning. Demonstrates ethical and collaborative behavior to ensure quality care and foster positive departmental and program relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Completes initial psychiatric and behavioral evaluations as assigned.
2. Conducts biopsychosocial evaluations, including relevant history, psychosocial stressors, initial diagnosis, and treatment formulation.
3. Develops individualized behavioral treatment plans.
4. Provides evidence-based cognitive-behavioral interventions, including daily exposure-based group CBT in the IOP.
5. Conducts family consultation sessions.
6. Monitors treatment progress and clinical outcomes.
7. Leads or co-leads exposure-based CBT aftercare groups.
8. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning to address patients' unique needs.
9. Updates physicians and psychologists on patients’ acuity levels, managing potential emergencies such as suicidal or homicidal ideation.
10. Advocates for patient needs within the department and with external agencies.
11. Provides consultation for inpatient and PHP to ensure continuity of care.
12. Assists with community outreach and referral triaging.

Requirements

1. Education: Master’s Degree or higher.
2. Licensure: Licensed required; independent license preferred.
3. Experience: Experience in psychiatric settings required, with training in exposure-based CBT, especially with OCD, anxiety, or hoarding. Experience in individual and group psychotherapy required.
4. Special Qualifications: Commitment to the programs at Butler Hospital and the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University.
