Chimes-of-Virginia,-Inc is seeking a Direct Support Professional to empower individuals with intellectual and behavioral challenges to live with dignity and independence. You will work in a team-focused environment, providing supervision, coaching, and support to staff and the people served.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in disability services preferred (not required—we train!).
• Ability to lift, push, or pull 50+ lbs.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with driving history requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides supervision, coaching, and performance evaluations to staff and persons served.
• Verifies staff attendance and ensures active treatment for all people assigned.
• Ensures adequate staff coverage and arranges temporary staffing when needed.
• Assesses the need for adaptive equipment and refers to the appropriate manager.
• Ensures materials are ready at the start of each shift and throughout program.
• Documents incidents as needed.
• Uses crisis intervention skills in emergencies when needed.
• Responsible for staff development and ongoing learning of direct support staff.
• Works with the manager to implement strategies to reduce turnover.
• Conducts visits/inspections to ensure all contractual specifications are met.
• Familiar with all DOL regulations relating to persons served and ensures compliance.
• Serves as a positive role model for other employees in the program.
