Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support LWCF Tribal engagement strategic initiatives, including program modernization, guidance materials, tools, and priority workplan activities.
• Assist with outreach, relationship-building, and educational activities with federally recognized Tribes and Indigenous partners.
• Develop and deliver training materials, webinars, and resources for LWCF staff and partners.
• Support consultation activities through meeting coordination, documentation, and records management.

This position is funded for up to 780 total hours.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Tribal and Indigenous Engagement Program supports government-to-government relationships with federally recognized Tribes, Alaska Native entities, Native Hawaiian Organizations, Urban Indian Organizations, and other Indigenous partners. The program works to increase Tribal and Indigenous access to LWCF funding opportunities through outreach, technical assistance, partnership development, consultation support, training, and program modernization initiatives. The program also supports implementation of federal Tribal engagement and consultation responsibilities throughout LWCF operations.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 7 year(s) of experience in Tribal engagement, Native Affairs, Tribal consultation, conservation, recreation, public administration, grant programs, or related fields. OR BA/BS Degree in Native American Studies, Tribal Governance, Indigenous Studies, Tribal Law, Public Administration, Public Policy, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Recreation Management, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, Public Health, Community Development, or related field with minimum additional experience of 5 year(s)

• Knowledge of Tribal sovereignty and federal Tribal policy Experience working with Tribal governments and Indigenous organizations Strong written and oral communication skills Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, or trainings Experience developing outreach and educational materials Experience with research, reporting, and data analysis Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse partners Experience with federal, Tribal, state, nonprofit, or public-sector programs Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual collaboration platforms

Duties:

Provides professional support to the Native Affairs Analyst and the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Tribal and Indigenous Engagement Program. Assists with implementation of strategic initiatives related to Tribal and Indigenous engagement, technical assistance, outreach, partnership development, training, program modernization, consultation support, data analysis, and program evaluation activities that increase access to LWCF programs and strengthen relationships with Tribal and Indigenous partners.

• Support implementation of LWCF Tribal and Indigenous Engagement strategic initiatives, including program modernization efforts, review of guidance materials, development of implementation tools, project coordination, and assistance with priority workplan activities.25%
• Assist the Native Affairs Analyst with outreach, technical assistance, relationship-building, and educational activities involving federally recognized Tribes, Alaska Native entities, Native Hawaiian Organizations, Urban Indian Organizations, Indigenous-serving organizations, and other partners.20%
• Assist with development and delivery of training materials, webinars, presentations, educational resources, and capacity-building initiatives for LWCF staff, state partners, and Tribal and Indigenous partners.15%
• Support consultation-related activities through meeting coordination, communication tracking, documentation, information management, follow-up activities, policy review, and providing input on maintenance of engagement records and tracking systems.15%
• Collect, organize, and analyze Tribal engagement, consultation, outreach, technical assistance, and program participation data. Assist with inventories, reports, evaluations, metrics development, and annual program summaries15%

• Overnight travel: quarterly in person meetings, travel for workshops as needed, conference presentations as needed.
