Job summary

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS) through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). This Cultural Resource Specialist role in Anchorage supports Section 106 reviews and preservation planning, performing research, coordination, and program support to advance priority work.

The position requires a BA/BS in a related field, extensive NHPA knowledge, and proficiency with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in History, Anthropology, Architecture, Archeology, Landscape Architecture, Historic Preservation, or related field with minimum additional experience of 20 year(s) in Historic Preservation, Cultural Resources
  • Extensive knowledge of the National Historic Preservation Act and the application of Section 106 regulations to federal undertakings and implementation of Section 110.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat

Responsibilities

  • The enrollee will assist the Cultural Resource Program in maintaining operational continuity and advancing priority work, including Section 106 reviews, critical baseline or compliance documents such as Determinations of Eligibility, National Register nominations, and Historic Structures Reports, through research, coordination, and program support.
  • Provides support for compliance-related documentation and background materials associated with federal historic preservation requirements and NPS policy.45%
  • Coordinates research efforts and reviews draft documents. Assists with assembling bibliographies and identifying relevant historical scholarship. Summarizes and translates technical historical and/or architectural information.45%

For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.
