Job summary

Indian River State College seeks a Program Assistant for the EMS lab to support day-to-day operations and hands-on learning for future emergency medical professionals. Under supervision, you will help facilitate cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skill development and assist the instructor of record with student guidance and documentation.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate in Science or Bachelor’s degree in the discipline, Florida paramedic licensure, and 2+ years of relevant experience,

Qualifications

  • Requires Associate in Science degree in the discipline with 2+ years of professional experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in the discipline.
  • Florida paramedic licensure is required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience and/or graduate coursework in the discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and strong organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist instructor with facilitating student learning of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills to meet course objectives.
  • Assist instructor with assignment direction and student guidance in work settings.
  • Collect data for evaluation and assist in documentation for the instructor of record.
  • Support student success by directing students to college resources as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies on assigned campus(es) and participate in meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and college policies.

Assisting the instructor of record with facilitation of student learning of cognitive, affective and/or psychomotor skills to meet the overall course objectives and program goals. Clearly, accurately, and effectively guides students in the development of necessary skills.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assisting the instructor of record with facilitation of student learning of cognitive, affective and/or psychomotor skills to meet the overall course objectives and program goals.Assisting the instructor of record with assignment and direction of students in work setting.Assisting instructor of record with collection of data for instructor of record’s evaluation of student.Assisting the instructor of record to support student success by referring students to college resources.Maintaining positive communication with college students, college employees, and affiliating agencies.Assisting the instructor of record with required documentation.Participating in department, division, and college meetings as assigned.Maintaining equipment and supplies on assigned campus(es).Complies with the correct procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations.Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:A minimum of an Associate in Science degree in the discipline with 2 or more years of documented professional experience directly related to the discipline; OR Bachelor’s degree in the discipline;Appropriate current professional certification and/or licensure as a Florida paramedicTwo or more years of documented professional experience and/or graduate coursework in the respective discipline;Proven knowledge of contemporary discipline theory and practices;Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills;PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light work involving lifting no more than 25 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
