Job summary

Indian River State College in Port Saint Lucie, FL is seeking a Program Assistant for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) lab. Under direct supervision, you will support the instructor of record and help guide students in developing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills to meet course objectives.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate in Science or Bachelor’s degree in the discipline, current Florida paramedic licensure, and strong communication and organizational skills to collaborate

Qualifications

  • A minimum of an Associate in Science degree in the discipline with 2 or more years of documented professional experience directly related to the discipline; OR Bachelor’s degree in the discipline.
  • Current professional certification and/or licensure as a Florida paramedic.
  • Two or more years of documented professional experience and/or graduate coursework in the respective discipline.
  • Knowledge of contemporary discipline theory and practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the instructor of record with facilitation of student learning of cognitive, affective and/or psychomotor skills to meet the overall course objectives and program goals.
  • Assist in assignment and direction of students in work setting.
  • Assist in collection of data for instructor’s evaluation of students.
  • Support student success by referring students to college resources.
  • Maintain positive communication with students, employees, and affiliating agencies.
  • Assist with required documentation and participate in college meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies on assigned campus(es).
  • Comply with procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations.
