Job summary

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 is seeking a program nurse to provide direct health services in district programs, including gastrostomy feedings, tracheostomy care, seizure care, and medication administration for students.

Under the direction of the Certified School Nurse and District Health Services Director, the nurse will serve in buildings, maintain health records, follow IDPH guidelines, conduct screenings, and coordinate with families to support student health and safety.

Qualifications

• Must hold RN or BSN with an active Illinois license in good standing.
• Current CPR/AED certification is required.
• Knowledge of Bloodborne Pathogen Policy and Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
• Experience with pediatric and school-based health services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct professional nursing services, including administration of medication, first aid, and handling emergencies.
• Completes accident/incident reports and forwards them to the district office promptly.
• Keeps a complete daily electronic log of all student injuries and illnesses.
• Follows IDPH rules on communicable diseases and notifies appropriate staff and parents as needed.
• Evaluates and maintains student health records for immunizations and exams.
• Administers daily and PRN medications under district guidelines and educates students.
• Performs vision/hearing screenings and coordinates referrals as needed.
• Collaborates with the PPST and gathers health histories for student evaluations.
• Maintains an organized health office and ensures supplies are stocked.
