You will help monitor lead times, drive issue resolution, and align supplier deliveries with project requirements across Purchasing, Engineering, Planning, and Production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 3+ years of Electric Boat experience or equivalent experience in supply chain roles.
  • Frequent monthly travel to suppliers required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros).
  • Ability to obtain secret or higher DOD clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Purchasing, Material Availability, Program Office, and internal teams to resolve shortages and schedule impacts.
  • Work with suppliers to monitor lead times and address delivery issues.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and material movement between suppliers and internal teams.
  • Align supplier deliveries with project requirements across Production, Engineering, Planning, and Logistics.
  • Communicate risks and constraints to Project Managers and stakeholders.
  • Follow up with suppliers on manufacturing status, recovery plans, and corrective actions.

Program Representative: Supplied Material Expediting Team

General Dynamics Electric Boat continues to expand its support of critical programs, and internal talent plays a key role in meeting those commitments. The Supplied Material Expediting Team is seeking motivated employees who want to strengthen their impact on schedule performance, supplier execution, and cross‑functional coordination.

This role is ideal for individuals who understand EB’s Supply Chain and Production environment and are looking to broaden their visibility across Purchasing, Engineering, Planning, Production, and Program teams. As a Materials Expediter, you will help ensure material availability and supplier performance by identifying issues early, coordinating resolutions, and driving actions that support program objectives.

In this newly created position, you will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of purchased materials by working directly with suppliers and purchasing to track order status, resolve delays, and partnering closely with key internal stakeholders to eliminate roadblocks in the supply base. Your work will have a direct and meaningful impact on our ability to meet schedule commitments and maintain production flow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Purchasing, Material Availability, Program Office, and other internal teams to resolve material shortages, delivery risks, and schedule impacts
  • Work directly with suppliers to monitor lead times, address quality or delivery issues, and ensure alignment with EB requirements
  • Serve as the primary coordination point between suppliers and internal organizations for delivery schedules, material movement, and issue resolution
  • Align supplier deliveries with project requirements by collaborating with Production, Engineering, Planning, and Logistics
  • Communicate risks, and constraints to Project Managers and internal stakeholders
  • Follow up routinely with suppliers to confirm manufacturing status, recovery plans, and corrective actions when performance issues arise
  • Identify and resolve problems such as delays, non‑conforming product, shipment discrepancies, or material availability concerns
  • Conduct regular supplier visits to assess progress, resolve issues, and support schedule recovery
  • This position is currently based out of our East Greenwich, RI and Kings Highway (Groton, CT) facilities. It will be transitioning to our new facility in Waterford, CT when it is ready.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of Electric Boat experience
  • Frequent monthly travel to various suppliers will be required
  • Proficient in using all Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros and graph/charts
  • Applicant must possess or be able to secure secret or higher DOD clearance
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or Bachelor's degree or higher in related areas such as Supply Chain Management, Engineering or Business Administration
  • 3+ years experience in supply chain, purchasing, material availability, planning, manufacturing, program office or production support
  • Familiarity with EB procurement processes, material movement workflows, and schedule‑driven environments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working across multiple departments and with external suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, assess risks, and take initiative to resolve issues
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to shifting program needs
  • Experience working with enterprise systems such as MRP/ERP tools, project dashboards, or supplier‑tracking systems
  • Comfort with travel to supplier locations
  • Prior exposure to problem‑solving or root‑cause analysis (e.g., issue logs, corrective action processes)
