Job summary

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is seeking a Sr. Software Developer in Bioinformatics and Big Data to support NCBI at NIH. The role is full time, onsite in Bethesda, MD and/or remote work.

You will develop and maintain bioinformatics software and data retrieval systems, collaborating with scientists and cross‑functional teams. Qualified candidates have 5+ years in large data or distributed computing, Linux proficiency, strong C++, and SQL/NoSQL experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience handling large data or distributed computing
• Proficiency in Linux environments
• Proficiency in C++
• Experience with MS SQL Server and relational database design/optimization
• Fluency in scripting languages such as Bash, csh, Perl, or Python

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, test, and maintain NCBI bioinformatics software and retrieval systems
• Collaborate with scientists, bioinformaticians, and developers to implement efficient algorithms
• Learn new technologies and share knowledge with the team
