Job summary

United Way Miami seeks a Program Officer, CI to advance education initiatives in Miami-Dade. You will help research, engage communities, plan strategically, manage investments, monitor grants, and drive special initiatives with UW collaborators.

The role emphasizes building partnerships, data-driven outcomes, and active participation in local education efforts to improve youth opportunities and community well-being.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Master’s preferred.
  • One to three years in nonprofit or social service sector.
  • Proficient with modern browsers and MS Office suite.
  • Strong communication, budgeting basics, critical thinking, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a results-based, goal-driven roadmap for educational outcomes in Miami-Dade.
  • Support effective investment processes and grant monitoring with data reporting.
  • Staff assigned Impact Council volunteers and coordinate services for target populations.
  • Maintain relationships with community and social service organizations and attend meetings.
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and partner on special events and initiatives.

Salary Range: $52,283-$58,819 annually

Hybrid Schedule: 2 days from home and 3 days on-site

United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a Program Officer, CI to join our team. As Program Officer, CI, you will contribute to the development and execution of United Way’s work in the education realm including research, community engagement, strategic planning, investment processes management and grant monitoring, and execution of special initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and execution of a results-based, goal-driven roadmap to achievement of positive educational outcomes in Miami-Dade County; includes research and community engagement to develop briefs; public policy issue identification and policy analysis; among others.
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of priority tactics and effective management of various investment processes and grant monitoring activities. Monitor assigned Impact Area agencies by conducting site visits, reviewing and recording progress and data, preparing reports and promotional materials, and lending technical assistance.
  • Effectively staff assigned Impact Council volunteers and act as a resource with a focus on services and target population.
  • Maintain effective relationships with public and private social service organizations, on behalf of United Way initiatives, by attending appropriate community, organizational and committee meetings. Keep abreast of community programs and public policy issues and attend community meetings and events in representation of United Way.
  • Provide creative and effective support staffing to United Way initiatives. This includes working resourcefully with UW collaborators and staff to plan, implement, evaluate, and follow up on special events and activities related to strategic planning and the preparation of work plans. Explore and secure partnership with other community organizations.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and expansion of EDEN Place and Future Bound Miami, including gathering data, meeting with staff/consortium, and reviewing outcomes data.
  • Stay up to date on local, state, and national education and youth trends
  • Manage assigned UW agency campaigns and other matrix assignments, as needed.
Requirements

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Master’s preferred.

Experience Requirements: One to three years experience in the non-profit/social service arena.

Technology Requirements: Knowledge of modern web browsers, Intermediate Word, Beginning Excel, Beginning PowerPoint, Beginning Outlook, Beginning Access.

Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, customer relations skills, creative problem-solving skills, good judgment, ability to understand budgets, basic math skills, critical thinking skills, and attention to detail.
