Job summary

Perkins is seeking a Program Nurse for the Lower School to provide nursing care, perform health assessments and participate in nursing diagnosis, planning and monitoring with the Nurse Practitioner and physician.

You will develop healthcare plans, coordinate with educational and residential staff, prepare health histories for admissions, and participate in interdisciplinary meetings to support student well-being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Valid RN license in MA.
• At least two years’ experience with children with developmental disabilities.
• Experience collaborating with Nurse Practitioner and physician.

Responsibilities

• Performs health assessments and participates in nursing diagnosis, planning, implementing, monitoring and coordinating healthcare with the Nurse Practitioner and physician.
• Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with educational, residential and clinical staff to manage healthcare needs.
• Prepares comprehensive health histories for admissions and educates on medical needs.
• Participates in interdisciplinary, clinical and admissions team meetings.
• Provides direction and monitoring of residential staff in medication administration.
• Communicates with students, families and others to coordinate healthcare.
• Adheres to health services policies to ensure quality of care.
• Engages in professional development and continuing education.
