Eversource is seeking a Program Manager, Strategic Project Development, Transmission in Westwood, MA. The role leads a portfolio of ESMP transmission projects from early development through handoff, coordinating with Planning, Engineering, Real Estate, and Regulatory teams.

Qualifications

Our Team

Eversource is hiring a Program Manager, Strategic Project Development, Transmission located out of the Westwood, MA office. The Program Manager, Strategic Project Development, contributes to the advancement of Major and Strategic Projects within the Company’s Massachusetts Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP) throughout Transmission by implementing cross-functional leadership throughout the Company and executing on the Capital Plan while adhering to core business synergies. The role will include the implementation of comprehensive strategies for advancing early-stage development for a portfolio of strategic transmission and substation projects, including internal organization and analytics, and support for external stakeholder relationship building in collaboration with other teams to support the Company’s role as the leading provider of Transmission. The Program Manager role will be expected to work collaboratively and coordinate with all relevant departments within the Company including System Planning, Engineering, Siting, Real Estate, Engagement and Equity, Regulatory, Procurement, Legal, Scheduling, and later-stage Project Management. This role reports to the Manager of Strategic Project Development and will also work closely with the Director of Strategic Project Development to ensure alignment and cooperative communication across Strategic Project execution.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for all aspects of a portfolio of strategic ESMP transmission and substation projects from early-stage development to hand off to Project Management Organization (prior to traditional project lifecycle)
• Oversee a cross-functional project team including, System Planning, Engineering, Siting, Real Estate, Legal, Project Management, Engagement, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Affairs, and other internal stakeholders to establish and organize ongoing development plan
• Ensures that all strategic solutions are vetted in a manner consistent with the Company’s safety and procurement policies and programs
• Works with the appropriate departments to develop schedules and budget of ESMP strategic projects in early-stage development and is responsible for the implementation, prior to execution
• Supports development and documentation of Company Policies related to development and execution of strategic transmission projects addressing items such as feasibility, planning, siting, permitting, construction, etc.
• Focus on both internal and external collaboration
• Maintains familiarity with current and upcoming Policies and Programs that could facilitate Transmission Development
• Works with the Manager/Director to develop metrics by which to evaluate the success of transmission projects and continues to track project-level and ESMP program progress; and collaborates with other Program Managers and Senior Program Managers within Strategic Project Development team when needed
• Facilitate discussions with key stakeholders to assure alignment and key information exchange to advance Strategic Transmission Projects
• Assists with representing Eversource Transmission on committees, groups, associations, or other efforts consistent with Strategic Projects
• Assists with representing Eversource Transmission at public meetings, regulatory hearings, town hall meetings, and any special meetings that may occur
• Ensures Manager and Director of Strategic Project Development are briefed regularly on the status of job responsibilities for the development of strategic projects and status of action items

Technical Knowledge/Skills

• Project management experience required
• Ability to develop and present reports within the organization
• Strong computer and analytical skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple subject matters, such as permitting, engineering, real estate, interconnection, finance, community engagement
• Understanding of onshore development of electric infrastructure projects, such as solar or wind
• Ability to take in multidisciplinary pieces of early-stage project development and make decisions in a timely manner
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences internally and externally
• Demonstrated interest in ongoing learning and process improvement
• Interest in progressing the State’s electrification efforts in advancement of Massachusetts’ clean energy and climate goals

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a technical (i.e., engineering, environmental, communication, renewable energy), business discipline, related degree or equivalent experience will be considered Masters, law, or other advanced qualifications desirable

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of related experience Experience developing competitive infrastructure projects and knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems preferred

Licenses & Certifications

Valid Driver’s license is required

Working Conditions

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required

HYBRID SCHEDULE

Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.
