Job summary

The University of Toledo seeks a Program Manager, SCOPE & Instrumentation Analyst to organize and lead SCOPE outreach sessions, where students remotely control advanced instrumentation on campus.

The role will operate and maintain the SEM, train users, prepare samples, and assist in grant writing, budgeting, and site communications within the Instrumentation Center.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience with a Scanning Electron Microscope or similar instrument.
  • Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year running/outreach program experience.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software.
  • Experience working with diverse age groups.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including PowerPoint.

Job Description:

This role will represent the University of Toledo to the public esp. schools through the SCOPE outreach program by organizing and leading SCOPE sessions during which middle and high school students remotely control (from their classroom) highly sophisticated research instrumentation located at UT.
This role will be responsible for the operation, training and maintenance of a scientific instrument located within the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics’ Instrumentation Center. This role will prepare and analyze samples submitted from both, university, and industrial users. The employee will train, supervise, and assist the users of the Scanning Electron Microscope.
Additionally, this role will assist in office duties including but not limited to support in grant writing, responsibilities related to the ICenter budget, creating webpages, and assisting the Director of the Instrumentation Center in day-to-day operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum two (2) years’ experience working with a Scanning Electron Microscope or another sophisticated instrument.
Bachelor’s degree with master’s degree preferred.
Minimum one (1) year experience in running and organizing an outreach program or something similar.
Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software.
Experience working with various age groups and abilities.
Proficient in MS Office, including Power Point.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master or Ph.D. degree preferred
