Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston is seeking a Program Manager responsible for personnel, operational and financial management of assigned program(s) to ensure delivery of competent, compassionate and efficient clinical care, promotion of research and clinical education.

You will oversee budgets and supervise staff, lead cross‑department collaborations, coordinate programs with internal and external sources, and assist in grant writing as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent, with 5 years of experience in program management.
• Advanced degree in a basic science field and experience in the study of the biology of aging.
• Grant writing experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and supervises all business and administrative activities relating to program operations and budget.
• Provides leadership for the program and promotes teamwork.
• Liaises between institutional departments and local groups to assess need and develop project plans and budgets.
• Leads and participates in collaborative interdepartmental approaches to develop an integrated system of care.
• Coordinates joint operations for the program with internal and external sources and establishes collaborative programs.
• Identifies funding sources for the program and monitors budgets to ensure cost-effective services.
• Evaluates services to maintain contract compliance and reviews contracts for renewal.
• Recommends hiring and termination of supervised employees.
• Facilitates development of goals, performance standards, and objectives of the program.
• Works with campus departments to establish collaborative programs.
• Identifies and evaluates the need for new equipment and services; initiates implementation plans.
• Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
• May assist in grant writing.
• Performs related duties as required.
