Job summary

Ronald McDonald House Richmond is seeking an exceptional Program Manager to lead our Family Services team at the Monument House. This role oversees daily operations, supports and develops staff, and builds relationships with families, volunteers, medical partners, and community supporters.

The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with trauma-informed care expertise, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic setting while ensuring a compassionate, seamless experience for families

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field as listed.
  • Two years of managerial experience required.
  • Six years of nonprofit experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Reliable transportation and background check clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a welcoming and engaging environment for families, donors, volunteers, and partners.
  • Coordinate family admissions with referrals and manage check-in/orientation.
  • Serve as a resource to guest families by understanding medical needs and resources.
  • Provide leadership for Monument House and uphold safety and hospitality standards.
  • Maintain accurate guest records and monthly program statistics.
  • Lead transportation coordination and schedule van drivers.
  • Build relationships with medical partners and attend meetings.
  • Oversee facility appearance, supplies, meals, and maintenance with leadership.
  • Supervise weekday Family Care Specialists and conduct annual conversations.
  • Collaborate with Volunteer Services to manage coverage and training.
  • Supervise volunteers and ensure a high-quality volunteer experience.
  • Support development of program interns with meaningful projects.
  • Coordinate and support family activities and programming with staff/volunteers.
  • Manage Monument House budget and contribute to annual business plan.

Ronald McDonald House Richmond is seeking an exceptional Program Manager to serve as a key leader in our Family Services team at our Monument House. This role is at the heart of our mission-ensuring families experiencing the stress and uncertainty of a child’s medical journey receive a welcoming, supportive, compassionate, and seamless experience.
The Program Manager is a visible leader who oversees daily House operations, supports and develops team members, and builds meaningful relationships with families, volunteers, medical partners, and community supporters. This individual must be a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment, can confidently manage multiple priorities, and is committed to stepping in wherever needed to support the mission.
The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, compassionate leader, and collaborative team player who brings professionalism, emotional intelligence, and strong follow-through to every interaction. They understand the importance of trauma-informed care and approach each interaction with empathy, respect, and sensitivity of the unique experiences families may be facing. They are comfortable engaging with many different people throughout the day, from families and hospital partners to staff, volunteers, and donors, and recognize that every interaction is an opportunity to provide comfort, build trust, and strengthen relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
What You'll Do
  • Ensure aconsistently welcoming and engaging environmentfor families, donors, volunteers, and partners who enter our spaces.
  • Coordinate family admissions by confirming medical partner referrals and managing check-in and orientation processes.
  • Serveas a resource to guest families by understanding medical needs, sharing local resources, and supportingoptimalstay plans.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Monument House location, ensuring all programs, guest spaces, and facilities consistently reflect Ronald McDonald House Richmond standards for safety, hospitality, and functionality.
  • Maintainaccurateguest records, including admissions, departures, occupancy, and monthly program statistics.
  • Monitor program occupancy and common spaces to ensure safe,appropriate, and welcoming use.
  • Lead transportation coordination for guest families, manageschedulesand van drivers, and provide transportation as needed to ensure safe andtimelyhospital access.
  • Build andmaintainprofessional relationships with medical partners andparticipatein educational or partner meetings as needed.
  • Oversee facility appearance, program supplies, meals, and maintenance needs in collaboration with the Director of Family Services and Chief Program Officer.
  • Supervise weekday Family Care Specialists, including staff scheduling,coaching,and conducting annual career conversations.
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Services Manager to ensureappropriate volunteerand intern coverage; support training and daily engagement.
  • Supervisevolunteersin daily program activities, ensuring clear task expectations anda positive, high-quality volunteer experience.
  • Support the development of program interns by assigning meaningful projects and providing regular feedback.
  • Coordinate andsupportfamily activities, events, and programming in collaboration with staff and volunteers.
  • Manage the Monument House budget andcontributeto the Program Team’s annual business plan.
  • Maintain continuity of care through collaboration with Program Managers andserveas backup coverage across allRonald McDonald HouseRichmond programs and locations, as needed.
