Job Summary: The K-8 Program Manager oversees an interactive after-school program and a summer program for students in Grades K-8. The Manager supervises the continued development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs geared towards strengthening literacy and technology skills of students. The Manager develops and manages an operating budget, and contributes to all required financial, grant, internal, and regulatory reporting. The Manager is responsible for recruiting, managing and training a team of qualified staff, creating a nurturing, positive environment that includes effective communication with staff, parents, partners, volunteers and other members of the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Leadership and Supervision:

  • Supervise program staff including goal setting; class observation and coaching and evaluation.
  • Supervise the development and delivery of instruction and activities, including weekly lesson plans, instruction and project-based learning classes geared towards raising academic skills and technology competencies.
  • Ensure the implementation of literacy program, including the review of teacher tracking of student usage and coaching teachers in implementation of interventional supports.
  • Develop K-8 operating budget and manage program expenses and fulfill budget manager reporting responsibilities.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships, communication and engagement of partner schools, and neighborhood organizations.
  • Manage student recruitment, admission, discipline/dismissal of students and ensure effective ongoing communication with parents.

Program Compliance and Reporting:

Support Director of K-12 Education in meeting OCDEL licensing and Keystone Stars requirements including ensuring students and staff file compliance, developing and implementing staff training plans, program assessment and documentation.

Ensure assessment of all students' progress and collect, review, and analyze assessment data and ensure that internal and external reporting documentation is accurately completed/submitted on time contributing to grant/contract application as requested by Development department.

Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS in Education, Early Childhood Education, Human Services or related degree with minimum 12 ECE course credits or PA School Age Credential. Verification of Education (Diploma and transcript) required.

Three (3) years instructional and/or curriculum development experience, two (2) years in verifiable childcare experience, two (2) years in a supervisory role with experience in managing teachers, program development and assessment, and budget management (note: these experiences could have been obtained simultaneously and do not need to be separate or consecutive experiences).

FBI, Criminal History, Child Abuse and National Sex Offender Registry clearance required.

Health Assessment with negative TB test required.

PA Driver's license with clean driving record.

Physical Requirements

Active work involved in the care of children. This includes moving around program spaces, including between floors and within classroom spaces with children, as well as driving a program van. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must be able to navigate short distances around the neighborhood (1 mile or less).
