Job description

ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Program Manager I to support the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) in its mission to monitor and improve state compliance with the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act. Your responsibilities will include contributing subject matter knowledge to project components such as data analysis, technical assistance, and audit preparation, typically in coordination with senior staff or as part of a task-focused team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Project Support
  • Provide subject matter and technical support on assigned project components under the guidance of senior staff
  • Collaborate with team members to meet task deadlines and contribute to project documentation and reporting
  • Support research and coordination efforts related to compliance and audit readiness
II. System Support
  • Assist in the enhancement and implementation of OJJDP's online compliance reporting system
  • Provide helpdesk-style support to system users, particularly during peak reporting periods
  • Help update technical assistance resources and user guidance materials
III. Data Analysis
  • Support data analysis related to JJDP core requirement submissions
  • Help prepare summary reports based on state-submitted data
  • Recommend improvements to data collection or reporting processes
IV. Audit Preparation
  • Coordinate logistics and assist in preparing materials for on-site audits
  • Support post-audit follow-up by tracking findings and drafting summary documentation
  • Contribute to closure activities for outstanding audit items
  • Assist with assembling background materials and supporting documents
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Knowledge of juvenile justice or related programming
  • Knowledge of the core requirements of the JJDP Act
  • Knowledge of project documentation, reporting, and task coordination
  • Skill in synthesizing information and contributing to technical summaries or materials
  • Ability to support system users and respond to task-specific guidance from senior staff
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
BACKGROUND
  • Experience with training and technical assistance programs
EDUCATION

The ideal candidate must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:

  • Master’s degree and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in social science or similar discipline
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in social science or similar discipline

Other Considerations. Applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 100% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 100% of the time.
