The Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) seeks to fill a Migrant Education Identification and Recruitment -Recruiter role. This full-time permanent position is based in Yakima or Benton County. This position is eligible for remote work in Yakima or Benton County. Position Overview

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Title I, Part C Migrant Education Program (MEP) will have one remote regional Administrative Program Specialist 2 (APS2) position based in Yakima County to conduct regional and statewide active identification and recruitment of eligible fishing and migratory children residing in the state. The position will also provide technical assistance and training support to local education agency recruiters in their region and statewide as needed. They will also collaborate with other MEP APS2 recruitment staff to conduct recruitment throughout the state during peak times or when needed. This position

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and determine the eligibility of migratory children as outlined in federal regulations.

  • Identify and recruit children in non-migrant funded local educational agencies.

  • Research non-migrant-funded school districts and create a strategic recruitment plan.

  • Assist with quality control activities regarding program eligibility verification, such as randomly re-interviewing families to ensure quality assurance.

  • Develop and maintain a regional resource directory that may be useful to migratory families as they migrate across the region.

  • Provide MEP school district staff with technical assistance and training regarding eligibility and effective recruitment practices.

  • Participate in regional, state, and national professional development opportunities.

  • Regularly travel within the assigned region to fulfill job duties.

  • Travel during peak season to other areas across the state to conduct job duties.

  • Visit homes, worksites, temporary housing facilities, fishing areas, or other locations to interview parents, guardians, or eligible Out-of-School Youth to determine eligibility and complete the Certificate of Eligibility

  • Conduct eligibility interviews in the evenings and weekends.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree involving a major study in Ethnic Studies, Social Science, Social Work, or a related field and three (3) years of professional experience in migrant & farmworker services or a related field.

OR

  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in migrant & farmworker services or a related field.

  • Bilingual/biliterate in English/Spanish.

  • Currently located inYakima or Benton County

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

  • Ability to initiate and perform job duties with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.

  • Willing to maintain flexible working hours.

  • Criminal Fingerprint/background clearance; Washington State Patrol and FBI

Compensation

The annual compensation for the position is $67,716 - $91,068 per year and depends upon experience, educational background and qualifications. Geographic differentials may be applied based on work location of successful candidate. Washington State offers a generous benefit package including health, dental and life insurance, retirement and an optional deferred compensation program.
