Position Summary

The Program Manager will serve as a high-level project management professional who provides proactive and strategic support to the Executive Director. This person will have an immediate impact on our productivity through leading select program activities and in building and supporting external communications strategy and implementation; streamlining strategic initiatives; managing partner relationships; and supporting WashU Public Exchange objectives internally and externally. This person will serve as a trusted thought partner to the Executive Director and key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have proven success in a project management role, with a special focus on external communications and relationship management.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Lead the execution of initiatives in a broad range of subject areas, following them from conception through implementation and reporting under the guidance of the Executive Director.
  • Be responsible for the timely delivery of research and solutions based on agreed upon timelines between research teams and external partners. Ensure that the project stays focused, with impact as the guiding factor of success.
  • Manage external partner relationships, being the primary point of contact related to project execution. Ensure that the community voice is always present in the project, and that the Public Exchange continues a practice of thoughtful and responsible engagement.
  • Build and maintain project management solutions including developing and implementing the process for scope, timelines, and deliverables for key projects.
  • Create a reporting solution for internal and external progress sharing, leading impact report creation for funders.

Communication and Reporting Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement external communications strategy, focusing on raising awareness of WashU Public Exchange activities with potential partners and funders.
  • Lead the design and implementation of external communications efforts, including but not limited to social media posting, website updates, and e-newsletters.
  • Track and manage PX partner, funder, and researcher contact drive across WashU and PX Network systems.
  • Respond and coordinate scheduling with media and other PR avenues related to PX projects.
  • Create presentations, reports or briefs to clearly communicate project progress, results, and recommendations to clients and internal teams.

Proposal Development

  • Assist the Executive Director in developing and implementing strategies to achieve client goals, often involving market research, data analysis, and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Support business development efforts by building and contributing to proposals, identifying new opportunities, and participating in outreach activities as needed.
  • Assist with the design of materials for potential partners, coordinating with design teams when needed.
  • Do appropriate research where subject-matter expertise is needed in proposals putting together briefing materials when required.

Administration Responsibilities

  • Manage documents and confidential information with appropriate discretion.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Executive Director and internal/external partners.
  • Develop and build on relationships with University teams and partners seeking opportunities for new projects, increased partnership and collaboration.

Salary Range

$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
