Job summary

NC State University in Raleigh seeks a Project Manager to lead SPEED, a NSF-funded national user facility enabling remotely accessible autonomous robotic experimentation in chemistry and materials science.

You will own the integrated project plan, NSF milestones and reporting, risk management, and cross-team accountability; directly supervise 1–2 program staff and coordinate with scientists, engineers, operations staff, vendors, and partner institutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, project management, business administration, or a related field.
• Five or more years of experience managing complex research, engineering, technical, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience owning project schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks, and executive reporting.
• Experience supervising staff or providing formal project leadership across matrixed teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead program-wide planning, coordination, and execution across SPEED’s workstreams.
• Manage integrated schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks, and deliverables.
• Serve as central PM interface among leadership, scientists, engineers, operations, and vendors.
• Lead NSF reporting, program documentation, and executive dashboards.
