City of New York is seeking an Administrator Architect (Non Mgrl) to support capital planning across city agencies. The role involves coordinating between technical and program teams to guide capital strategy, sustainability, and resiliency initiatives.
Requirements include NYS Architect registration, 6 years of architectural experience (2 in admin architect), and US work authorization. Residency not required for this position; 55a Program is open to qualified applicants.

ADMIN ARCHITECT (NON MGRL) M-1 - 1000A
Only candidates who are permanent in the Administrative Architect title or those who are reachable on the DDC promotional list (exam #6501) or the open‑competitive list (exam #6001) may apply. If you do not meet the previously mentioned civil service criteria, you will not be considered for an interview.
The Program Manager will work with the Deputy Director of Advanced Capital Planning to support sponsor agencies in planning their capital needs and addressing citywide strategic goals for public buildings, including, but not limited to:
Duties include liaising and coordinating between technical teams, program teams, and sponsor agencies to assist with early capital strategic planning and supporting them on informative decision making. Coordinate and develop an understanding of each agency’s programming, long‑term goals, and capital needs for their portfolio, and citywide initiatives for sustainability and resiliency as a result of technical analysis provided. Coordinate with program unit staff to advise them in the preparation of future funding requests.
Perform post‑occupancy evaluations (POEs) and surveys, which solicit feedback and lessons learned from end users of recently completed projects. POEs also include analysis on building operations, maintenance, energy and water use, user satisfaction, and many additional factors that will inform future project needs.
A valid New York State Registration as an Architect is required. In addition, candidates must have six (6) years of full‑time paid experience in architectural work, at least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect. All candidates must be currently authorized to work full‑time in the United States. Candidates must have proper work authorization when an employment offer is made. Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education‑recognized accredited institution. Credentials from foreign institutions require independent equivalency verification from an approved evaluation service (see https://www.nyc.gov/assets/dcas/downloads/pdf/employment/nyc-dcas-foreign-education-evaluation-guide.pdf).
