Position: Program Manager
Location: Aiken, SC, 29801 - Remote with occasional onsite visits about 6 times per year.

DUTIES
Provide effective programs development management for uncovering, assessing, developing and exploiting new missions and technology available at SRS in support of Transition and Reconfiguration efforts. The results will include new missions, mission changes, or a broad range of options such as stimulating the start-up of new businesses and establishing new programs at SRS.
Manage the process for uncovering, evaluating, recommending, and implementing product/business/technology development with respect to facilities, personnel, and other SRS initiatives. Promote these initiatives broadly at SRS, within the DOE complex, and in the commercial, university segments of the U.S. economy, and internationally. Provide support for the start-up and implementation of these programs.
Provide guidance on additional technical support requirements. Program manage these initiatives for up to one or more years. Offer preliminary legal and financial analysis support. Develop and manage related budgets and documentation to justify funding and oversee implementation.
Develop, enhance, and manage the Program Development aspects of the Technology Programs Section. Promote and implement new SRS-based "Centers of Excellence," "Technical Institutes," cooperative research and development agreements, work-for-others activities, and the creation of new businesses, partnerships, and consortia to support DOE missions related to defense, environment, and technology transfer. Market SRS technical capabilities and analyze new opportunities for initiatives.
Education:
Master’s degree in a technical area with 16 years of broad experience in engineering, operations, marketing, strategic and business planning, or an MBA with a technical undergraduate degree and 16 years of experience. Alternatively, a Technical BS with 20 years of relevant experience.
Experience/Skills:
Extensive knowledge of waste management, including regulatory requirements, characterization, treatment, storage, and disposal.
Experience in developing and establishing waste programs for all waste types, with a focus on TRU waste. Familiarity with waste handling and acceptance at WIPP is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of waste handling practices across the DOE complex is preferred. Ability to support design and program development. Candidates with an active DOE clearance (Q) within the past two years are preferred.
