The Nonprofit Association of the Midlands (NAM) is the only membership organization in Nebraska dedicated exclusively to working with nonprofits. By connecting organizations with information, education, advocacy, and collaboration, we help members focus their energy on the people and communities they serve.NAM strengthens the collective voice, leadership, and capacity of nonprofit organizations enriching the quality of community life throughout Nebraska and Western Iowa.

Program Description

The Program Manager is responsible for advancing Nonprofit Association of the Midland’s (NAM) mission by overseeing and coordinating a variety of initiatives, including in-person and virtual training events and participant support. This position requires strong professional judgment, effective problem-solving, and strong decision-making skills. Success in this role depends on a broad knowledge base, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. The Program Manager must demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, work collaboratively as part of a team, and adapt to flexible work scheduling as needed.

Position Responsibilities
Event Planning & Coordination
  • Oversee logistics for all training events, ensuring smooth execution and participant satisfaction.

  • Plan and manage annual conferences, including the Nonprofit Summit of the Midlands, Central Nebraska Nonprofit Conference, and Fundraising Palooza.

  • Serve as the primary contact for event venues, logistics, and communications.

  • Oversee event budgets, including financial tracking and reporting.

  • Coordinate speaker selection processes and presenter communications.

  • Manage website CMS database for registrations and events.

  • Manage relationships with event planning committees, consultants, partners, and vendors to ensure all event details are finalized and executed effectively.

  • Develop strategies to increase event attendance and revenue.

  • Manage and update website content, including designing event pages, tracking registration and attendance, and creating event tickets.

Training Programs and Member Support
  • Maintain and manage the training calendar and training event logistics.

  • Support the Director of Programs in delivering trainings, resources, and services to nonprofit members.

  • Administer shared webinar program(s) with other state associations.

  • Manage logistics for contracted training and other events as needed.

  • Respond to member inquiries and direct them to appropriate staff as needed.

  • Communicate with peer state association(s) to explore trends and opportunities for program improvement.

  • Assist with grant writing and reporting related to training and program needs.

  • Participate in grant review and management processes.

Leadership Development Programs
  • Assist with coordination of the Nonprofit Executive Institute and the Rising Leaders Institute, ensuring alignment with NAM programming and operations.

  • Support committees related to leadership development programs, assisting with curriculum and programming content.

  • Oversee program logistics, including speaker coordination, communication, and session-specific needs.

Office Management
  • Collect and prepare statistical data to support reporting and evaluation for various projects.

  • Maintain accurate and timely database entries related to program activities.

  • Organize and facilitate meetings as needed to support program and organizational goals.

  • Travel periodically across Nebraska to support events, trainings, and outreach efforts.

Other
  • Foster an inclusive, accessible, and welcoming environment for developing and implementing NAM’s educational events; focus areas may include geography, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, immigration status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, age, ability, and religion.

  • Exercise sound judgement in establishing and maintaining office systems and procedures.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required & Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience planning, fundraising, and coordinating events.

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

  • Experience with social media preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, social work, education, or related field preferred.

  • Experience working in an office environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • CSM software and Adobe Creative Suite experience preferred.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and use independent discretion to complete assignments.

  • Someone who likes a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively

Salary and Benefits

Annual salary is approximately $65,000, based on years of comparable experience. Comprehensive benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance with single coverage paid at 80% by NAM; 403(b) with a 3% match; and generous paid leave including vacation, sick leave, and holidays. NAM offers a hybrid work environment.
