Job summary

Samsung Electronics in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Program Manager to implement program management processes for local ESS manufacturing programs, improving timing, costs and quality across the product development life cycle.

You will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with sales, finance, engineering, and manufacturing, and maintain KPI goals while communicating with teams in Korea to capture design changes and align production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering or other area.
  • 5+ years of experience with project management.
  • Experience in the automotive industry and APQP is required.
  • Knowledge/experience with ISO 16949 is a plus.
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Hybrid electronics or advanced battery technology experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Korean is preferred (to engage with ESS design team).
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office software to be able to track and analyze spreadsheets and plans.
  • Fluent in Microsoft project for managing timing plans is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong communication/negotiation skills to work with internal and external contacts at all levels within the organization and represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for successful performance of job duties.
  • Carry out projects, broad in nature, from beginning to end in coordination with internal / external contacts.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate activities, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many issues at one time.
  • Able to work independently under little or no supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, initiate and drive processes in the organization to achieve the programs targets for timing, costs and quality while managing/supporting change, risk and requirement management.
  • Provides expert technical leadership in coordinating, facilitation, motivating, and directing efforts of cross functional program and concept development teams including individuals from Sales, Finance, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Manufacturing.
  • Gains support for and develops process, product and program controls and ensures all groups involved understand demands for interconnected processes.
  • Create a detailed process roll-out plan (as needed) based on internal and customer defined milestones and utilize program management tools to track progress to the plan.
  • Ensures customer and company requirements are met including cost, quality, timing, and overall scope of the program(s) and/or department(s).
  • Works with internal and external resources to maintain customer requirements, milestones and timing and aligns with company processes.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts, researches, recommends, and initiates implementation of enhancements to products, processes and programs.
  • Leads effective lessons learned processes within and between the programs and departments.
  • Maintains proper communication/reporting including escalation when necessary and maintains meeting structure cadence and moderates’ reviews.
  • Performs other duties as necessary and provides work direction to other staff.
  • All other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:

Implement program management processes to local ESS manufacturing programs to improve inefficiencies and proactively address concerns for timing, costs and quality over the product development life cycle. Provides expert technical leadership in coordinating, facilitating, motivating, and directing efforts of cross-functional program teams and identifies process improvements for efficient use of team resources. Work is performed under little or no supervision and requires independent problem-solving and decision making with general direction received on program objectives and broad guidance. Coordinates/supports on site customer line tours/requests and customer meetings as needed. Supports global communication with development team based in Korea to ensure design changes are captured and communicated to the local production team that could be impacted. Monitors/maintains KPI goals for product realization. Performs other duties in support of departmental goals and objectives.
