Job summary

The National Academies seeks a program officer to support the Biomedical and Health Sciences Program’s REDI initiative, managing workshops, developing strategy, and coordinating with federal, state, and local partners. The role requires advanced knowledge of biomedical data infrastructure and strong project management skills.

With a Master’s (Ph.D. preferred) in a related field, you will help prepare background papers, write technical summaries, and oversee dissemination of findings, while

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge required.
• Ph.D. in related field preferred.
• Degree or experience in biomedical informatics, computer science, data science, information studies, data architecture, or related fields preferred.
• Experience with research data governance, stewardship, interoperability, or scientific data infrastructure highly desirable.
• Three years of related professional experience.
• Strong program/project management skills and ability to work in complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Develops program or project strategy with supervisor and manages budget.
• Condu cts workshops and meetings, prepares summaries, and manages logistics.
• Represents the program and committee with external organizations.
• Prepares background papers and technical summaries; drafts and edits publications.
• Supports staff and committee administration, including appointment packages and liaison activities.
• Plans communications and dissemination activities for the forum and reports.
