Description

Job Title: Seasonal Program Lead/Summer Day Camp Lead

FLSA Status: Seasonal Full Time - non-exempt
Reports to: On-site program director

Rate of Pay: $20/hr

Closing Date: 05/25/2025

Benefits: Standard; Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Seasonal employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

  • Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire)

Scope of Position/Essential Functions:

The Summer Day Camp Leader assists the On-Site Program Director in operating the Corps summer program. This includes maintaining the Divisional standards, as well as having direct, daily involvement with the students. The Program Leader also may be assigned several different responsibilities by the On-Site Program Director depending on the needs of the program and their skill set. Some of those may include assessing inventory needs, administering proper record keeping, securing parental permissions, outcome documentation, facilitating program components, and sustaining specific health and safety standards. Demonstrate a passion for working with children in a learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate as a team player
  • Assist with summer programming where needed, supervising, guiding, and caring for children in an educational, enrichment, and recreational setting.
  • Provide leadership support to Corps ministry components integrated into the summer program.
  • Provide encouraging instruction to students during group activities.
  • Assist the Director or Group Leader in planning, teaching lessons, homework support, and activities.
  • Assist with food preparation, serving, and cleanup.
  • Develop partnerships with parents and responsive relationships with children.
  • Maintain discipline and encourage all children to follow rules.
  • Assist in general setup and cleanup of the program area and with the opening/closing of the facility.
  • Supervise rotations and sign-in and sign-out.
  • Lead activities and supervise children.
  • Ensure each child is accounted for and maintain a safe environment.
  • Report all issues (no matter how small) to the Director.
  • All other tasks as assigned.
  • Attend mandatory Staff Trainings.

Education and Work Experience:

Local Program Leaders must be at least eighteen years of age and demonstrate an ability to work with children. Program Leaders must have at least three months full-time or equivalent part-time verifiable experience with school-age children. Within 30 days of hiring, you must submit fingerprints and certifications in First Aid, CPR, Medication Administration, and Universal Precautions from a nationally recognized provider.

Software-related skills: Microsoft Word and Excel, and email required. Working knowledge of integrated database applications and the ability to use new software programs with basic training.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to maneuver, remain in a stationary position, grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone and lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to access and produce information from a computer and understand written information. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
