Job summary

AF - Group seeks a Program Business Development Manager to identify, evaluate, and advance delegated underwriting authority program opportunities. You will assess portfolio performance, risk, and profitability to support executive decisions and ensure alignment with risk appetite.

You will lead cross-functional diligence, develop program assessments with financial projections, and drive implementation from pipeline to launch readiness, leveraging market relationships and expert teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business or a related field is required.
• Advanced industry certification such as CPCU, ARE, et al are preferred.
• Minimum ten (10) years of Property and Casualty experience in underwriting or product development.
• Minimum five (5) years of delegated underwriting authority experience; or related portfolio evaluation roles.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate new program opportunities through market relationships, brokers and program administrators.
• Screen opportunities for strategic alignment, underwriting appetite, portfolio fit, target segments, and distribution approach.
• Lead due diligence of program administrators including underwriting practices, portfolio performance, governance and third-party relationships.
• Assess alignment with carrier expectations and risks related to underwriting discipline, adverse selection, and growth.
• Evaluate opportunities from a portfolio perspective: class mix, exposure, pricing, profitability, volatility and diversification.
• Partner with actuarial and underwriting teams to validate assumptions and ensure alignment with risk appetite and return thresholds.
• Develop Program Assessment Reports with financial projections, profitability, risk and implementation steps.
• Translate underwriting and financial data into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
• Manage opportunities through the full pipeline lifecycle and drive cross-functional alignment for launch readiness.
