The University of Maryland School of Public Health seeks Program Facilitators (PF) to deliver an evidence-based sexual assault prevention intervention, “Flip the Script with EAAA,” modified for online delivery to transgender and nonbinary undergraduate students. PFs will recruit, enroll, and provide a five‑session, 15‑hour interactive group program via Zoom while maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to research protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Become trained to deliver the TEA3 program, including self‑defense instruction.
- Learn the theoretical and empirical basis of sexual assault prevention and resistance education.
- Work with co‑facilitators to deliver the online program in five 3‑hour sessions during evenings and weekends.
- Conduct informed‑consent screening interviews with prospective participants at varied times.
- Organize equipment (computers, standing desks) and program materials; set up and clean up for each session.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of participants’ identities, comments, and interactions throughout all phases of research and programming.
- Remind participants of upcoming program sessions using email, text, or chat.
- Use the REDCap database to view evaluations and enter interview data (training provided).
- Communicate effectively with program facilitators, supervisors, and the research team.
- Participate in regular supervision meetings with peer facilitators and the supervisor.
- Assist with in‑person participant recruitment as needed.
- Attend an intensive 3‑week summer training (40hrs/week) and weekly 1‑hour Zoom supervision meetings.
- Be available for evening and weekend hours in the Peitzmeier Lab for practice and program delivery.
- Attend the study’s critical periods (September‑November and January‑April) and coordinate vacation outside these windows.
- Commit to working through April30,2027; rehiring possible if desired by both parties.
Qualifications
- Lived or professional experience in transgender communities.
- Recent bachelor’s degree (within the last 10years) reflecting familiarity with undergraduate life.
- Comfort engaging with difficult, sensitive topics (sexuality, violence against transgender and nonbinary individuals).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and reading‑aloud skills with emotional clarity.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle conflict within a team and work collaboratively with co‑facilitators and the research team.
- Strong judgment, problem‑solving skills, and the capacity to respond to unexpected participant questions or technology issues.
- Familiarity with computer technology, video conferencing, and software such as Word, Excel, REDCap, SharePoint, and GroupMe.
- Detail‑oriented, able to follow complex protocols with fidelity.
- Growth mindset and openness to feedback.
- Flexible schedule and strong time‑management skills.
- Access to a computer and private space off‑site for supervision video‑conferencing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work or volunteer experience with gender‑based violence, trans health, or community empowerment.
- Experience as a program facilitator or group moderator on any topic.
Physical Demands
- Attend three weeks of in‑person training in August (weekdays, 9:00am–5:00pm).
- Attend weekly 1‑hour supervision meetings over Zoom during business hours.
- Facilitate sessions during evenings and weekends, with a minimum of five weekend afternoons and five weeknights per semester.
- Work through the study’s critical periods, arranging vacations outside these windows.
- Commit to working until April30,2027.
Compensation & Hours
- Part‑time employment; 375 total hours at $29/hr.
- Hours vary: 5hrs for non‑facilitation weeks up to 24hrs/week during facilitation or training weeks.
- Includes an intensive 3‑week summer training (40hrs/week).
- Program will run during semester evenings and weekends.
