Responsibilities

  • Lead Research Education and Programming: Direct and enhance university-wide programs that support undergraduate/ graduate student and postdoctoral researcher participation in research, scholarship, and creative activities.
  • Lead Strategy and Implementation of Education and Programming: Lead and evaluate the team’s design, implementation, and outcomes of workshops, training programs, and educational resources that build research skills, professional competencies, leadership abilities, and career preparedness for undergraduate/graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers.
  • Manage the Research Education and Programming Team, and Student Success Initiatives: Supervise staff and oversee the development, coordination, and delivery of research development, professional development, and career readiness initiatives that support student academic, research, and career success.
  • Build Partnerships, Outreach, and Assessment Efforts: Collaborate with academic and administrative units to expand student opportunities, conduct outreach activities, evaluate program effectiveness, and prepare reports supporting institutional goals related to student success and research excellence.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional responsibilities and special projects in support of the mission and strategic priorities of the Division of Research and Innovation.

Department Summary

The Toulouse Graduate School within the Division of Research & Innovation promotes and supports graduate student education by overseeing graduate student programs, professional development, and graduate student research engagement. TGS collaborates with departments in recruitment, admissions, and enrollment services to support and enhance the UNT graduate student experience and help students succeed both academically and in their future careers.

Position Overview

The Program Director for Research Education and Programming within the Toulouse Graduate School provides leadership and oversight for programs and services that promote undergraduate/graduate student and postdoctoral researcher engagement in research, scholarship, and professional development. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Research & Innovation Graduate Studies & Student Research, this position manages a staff and leads university wide initiatives that support student success, career readiness, and research excellence across the university with a mission to enhance both student and postdoctoral research experience at UNT.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and five years of closely related professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
  • Extensive knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
  • In depth knowledge of learning outcomes.
  • Requires knowledge of best practices in assessment as it pertains to higher education and institutional effectiveness including the creation of outcomes, assessment methods and instruments, as well as data analysis, and utilization of reporting results.
  • Ability to plan and conceptualize and make sound business decisions.
  • Must exercise considerable independent and professional judgment in matters of significance.
  • Strong presentation, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong planning and project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of populations verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D degree in education, STEM, or related field
  • Experience in graduate education, higher education
  • Demonstrated experience managing programs, teams, and funding initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting research
