Qualifications

Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a Program Director for Researchand Creative Works to provide strategic leadership and support for undergraduate research, creative works, and areas of academic distinction. This position plays an important role in expanding opportunities for students and faculty by developing and promoting programs, supporting participation in conferences, assisting with grant opportunities, and evaluating program outcomes. Working collaboratively with faculty directors, academic colleges and schools, and university partners, the Program Director helps advance engaging learning opportunities while supporting the growth and success of undergraduate research and creative activity across the university. The Program Director will also provide training and presentations, track program participation, support faculty and students in pursuing research and creative opportunities, and help connect participants with local, state, and national conferences. This position offers an opportunity to shape and strengthen programs that support student learning, faculty engagement, and academic innovation across the university.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Oversees URCW and academic distinction program processes,correspondence, budget transfers, reports, and statistics. Reviewsall ELWD grant applications and disbursements to ensure they are inline with the intended purpose of the program and meet UVU'spolicies and procedures and ELWD guidelines. Chairs and managesevaluation committees for grants offered through ELWD. Collaborateswith schools/colleges, departments, and the Research Institute toestablish procedures, policies, and resources for grant management.Identifies and assists faculty and student awardees requiringassistance from the Office of General Counsel regardingintellectual property and liability issues relating to grantawards. Supports the Scholarly and Creative Undergraduate LearningPartnership Team (SCULPT).
  • Provides mentoring and assistance to faculty and studentsseeking internal grants overseen by ELWD. Acts as a point ofcontact and resource for college/school research coordinators.Maintains the database to ensure students and faculty remain ontrack to meet the goals of awards. Maintains an organizationalstructure and staffing to meet the organization's goals. Maintainsprogram websites with troubleshooting and developing content.Coordinates with Dx to identify and utilize software platforms toincrease efficiency and effectiveness of the area's programs. Support the high-impact activities of the ELWD.
  • Administers and evaluates budgets of multiple soft and hardaccounts for all grant programs. Coordinates with the AcademicAffairs financial manager to ensure ELWD budgets are appropriate.Directs the funding and awarding of faculty and student grants andprovides leadership for the development and funding of new grantopportunities. Establishes guidelines, policies, and processes forURCW grant development. Leads the tracking, reporting, andassessment of grant programs. Generates a strategic plan yearlybased on analysis of data and the university's core values. Managesand distributes URSCA grant funds.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Teaching and Learning toidentify training needs of ELWD programs with emphasis onundergraduate research. Facilitates faculty and student training toinclude in-class program presentations for departments. Facilitatesacademic distinction programs' faculty directors' training effortswith OTL.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degreeand two years of experience directly related to the Summary ofDuties OR a bachelor's degree plus four years of directly relatedexperience and/or any combination of education and/or experiencedirectly related to the Summary of Duties totaling six years.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of staff-level experience or an equivalent combinationof education and/or experience related to the Summary of Dutiestotaling seven years
