Job summary

Dartmouth Health is seeking a Program Director, Patient Safety to lead system-wide efforts to embed High Reliability Organization principles and to drive best-in-class safety performance across all care locations.

You will build and guide a high-caliber safety team, partnering with risk management, legal, and clinical leadership to advance safety initiatives and ensure alignment with Joint Commission standards and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Advanced/graduate degree in a clinical discipline.
• Experience leading organization-wide patient safety programs.
• 10 years minimum experience in patient safety leadership.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact with senior executives
• HRP/Press Ganey platform experience preferred.
• Experience building/coordinating high-performing safety teams.

Responsibilities

• Promotes awareness of safety improvement needs and educates others on HRO principles.
• Oversees event reporting, root cause analyses, and safety vulnerability identification.
• Leads system-wide HRO implementation and leadership development.
• Partners with marketing/communications for patient safety messaging and forums.
• Ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards and NPAG goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
