Job summary

Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) invites applications for a Full-time Faculty position and Program Director of the Minor in Creative Entrepreneurship. The role combines teaching with leadership of the minor, curriculum development, and collaboration with the RCCE and Baltimore community.

The ideal candidate has entrepreneurial experience in art and design, college teaching credentials, and program management ability.

Qualifications

• BA/BFA or equivalent degree in respective fields.
• College-level teaching experience beyond graduate internships/assistantships.
• Entrepreneurial experience in a business or nonprofit organization.
• Experience with academic program management or equivalent administrative responsibilities.
• Three years of teaching, training, or mentoring in an educational context or in alternative learning spaces (e.g., businesses, residencies, research programs, internships).
• Demonstrated ability to support professional development of artists, designers, and emerging creative practitioners.
• Evidence of ability to work with colleagues across disciplinary boundaries.
• Experience and ease providing collaborative leadership.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Capacity to work on campus 3+ days per week.

Responsibilities

• Teach four courses per year, or two per term, in the Creative Entrepreneurship minor (12 credits per year).
• Coordinate all operational aspects of the Creative Entrepreneurship minor.
• Develop and refine new courses for the minor in consultation with other faculty and staff.
• Lead recruitment and curriculum planning for the First Year Fellows in Creative Entrepreneurship program for new students.
• Develop strategic partnerships with Baltimore community and RCCE to bring mentors and internships.
• Recruit, mentor, and advise students, holding office hours.
• Oversee budget related to the minor.
• Attend monthly RCCE team meetings and serve on RCCE Advisory Team.
• Lead hiring for faculty to teach Creative Entrepreneurship courses.
• Attend major RCCE events such as UP/Start, JUST/Start, and Art Market.
