Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking a Program Director to lead Wayfinders, a 21st CCLC grant-funded summer and afterschool program serving 2nd–5th graders at Gerald E. Talbot Community School and Amanda C. Rowe Elementary School in Portland, Maine.

The role oversees program leadership, budgeting, data collection, reporting, and partnerships, with responsibility for staffing, professional development, and securing future funding beyond the initial grant cycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Minimum of 35 years of teaching experience.
• Minimum of 1 year program leadership experience.
• Proven experience in curriculum design, out-of-school time programming, and/or grant-funded (21st CCLC) environments.
• Experience with diverse student populations and commitment to educational equity.
• Current teacher certification with 020 or 029 endorsement preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full 21st CCLC grant cycle, ensuring compliance with MDOE requirements and district goals.
• Establish positive relationships with students, staff, parents/guardians, and community partners.
• Align school day and Wayfinders program to meet students' needs and enrichment opportunities.
• Meet with school admin, partners, and district personnel to ensure programming meets needs.
• Manage budgeting, data collection and reporting; coordinate transportation, meals, and facilities.
