Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Program Director to lead residential services across Indiana, ensuring person-centered supports and compliant program operations. You’ll oversee staff development, service delivery, and day-to-day operations in multiple homes while coordinating healthcare needs with site leadership.

You’ll manage budgets, staffing, and scheduling, maintaining a strong focus on quality care, regulatory compliance, and family partnerships to empower individuals served.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field required.
  • 1+ years of experience within residential IDD/DD services, group homes, or community-based programs required.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience overseeing multiple programs, sites, or leadership teams preferred.
  • Must demonstrate good decision‑making, time management and communication skills.

WE OFFER
  • Compensation: $52,000 Fixed Annual Rate
  • Work Environment: Onsite in Kokomo, Peru or Logansport

  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 AM - 5 PM EST with on-call responsibilities as needed to support operational needs and program coverage
  • Travel Requirement: Approximately 50% travel throughout Lafayette and Kokomo areas

WHAT YOU GET TO DO
  • Team Leadership & Staff Development: Oversee personnel management across assigned programs, ensuring staff complete required orientation, ongoing training, and development needed to perform successfully in their roles.
  • Program Oversight & Service Delivery: Monitor all aspects of program operations, including the development and implementation of individual goals, service plans, and person-centered supports.
  • Operational Management: Provide oversight of the day‑to‑day operations of assigned programs, ensuring services are organized, consistent, and aligned with organizational expectations.
  • Clinical & Medical Coordination: Help ensure medical needs, healthcare supports, and related program responsibilities are appropriately coordinated and carried out through site leadership.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor program‑related financial responsibilities and support effective use of resources across assigned locations.
  • Facility & Maintenance Oversight: Ensure homes and program sites are appropriately maintained by guiding site leaders and addressing operational or maintenance concerns as they arise.
  • Leadership Through Delegation: Guide and direct designated site leaders to ensure accountability, follow‑through, and consistent management across programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
MUST HAVE
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field required, including Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Allied Health, or Human Services.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience within residential IDD/DD services, group homes, or community-based programs required.
  • Leadership Experience: 2+ years of leadership experience overseeing multiple programs, sites, or leadership teams preferred.
  • Decision Making Skills: Must demonstrate good decision‑making, time management and communication skills, and be responsible, mature, and flexible.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and the ability to adapt to new technology platforms.
  • Licensure & Transportation: Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets agency insurance requirements.
NICE TO HAVE
  • Industry Expertise: Experience supporting or working in residential IDD/DD programs.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of Indiana-specific disability service regulations and HCBS standards.
  • Staff Development: Experience mentoring direct support staff or supporting operational growth initiatives.
  • Operational Insight: Budgeting, financial oversight, or performance management experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Leadership & Staff Development: Effectively lead DSPs, Lead DSPs, and other frontline staff through coaching, accountability, training, and ongoing development.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: Clearly communicate expectations, policy changes, performance concerns, and care needs while building strong relationships with staff, individuals served, guardians, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Problem‑Solving & Decision‑Making: Quickly assess staffing concerns, behavioral issues, incidents, scheduling gaps, and operational challenges and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Prioritization & Time Management: Balance staffing, site visits, documentation, meetings, scheduling, incidents, training, and administrative responsibilities in a fast‑paced residential environment.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Documentation: Maintain strong knowledge of Medicaid waiver requirements, ISP/BSP expectations, incident reporting, medication procedures, licensing standards, and required documentation while keeping programs audit‑ready.
  • Staffing & Scheduling: Build and maintain effective schedules, respond to call‑offs, monitor overtime, and ensure each home has appropriate staffing coverage based on individual needs.
  • Person‑Centered Care: Ensure services are aligned with each individual’s goals, preferences, rights, health needs, ISP/BSP, and desired level of independence.
  • Hands‑On Program Oversight: Maintain a regular presence in the homes, complete site visits, observe service delivery, support staff, and step in when needed to ensure quality care.
  • Accountability & Follow‑Through: Set clear expectations, address concerns promptly, complete corrective actions, and ensure commitments and required follow‑up are completed.
  • Budget & Resource Awareness: Understand program budgets, staffing utilization, overtime, household expenses, and available resources while maintaining quality of care and operational stability.
