Role Overview:
The purpose of the Program Review/Audit Division is to evaluate all Indiana Department of Correction Facilities, Parole, Central Office, and the Correctional Training Institute in adherence to the American Correctional Association Standards respective to their assigned manual; to act as a liaison with NIC, OSHA, the American Correctional Association and its assigned auditors, and ensure compliance with national and state rules, regulation, policies, and procedures. This position is seen as the subject matter expert for interpretation of standards, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
This position is assigned to Central Office; however, traveling to other IDOC locations is required. Areas of responsibility in which to monitor and ensure compliance include but are not limited to Facility Administration, Fiscal Management, Personnel, Training and Staff Development, Case Records, Information Systems and Research, Citizen Invovlement and Volunteers, Physical Plant, Security and Control, Safety and Emergency Procedures, Rules and Discipline, Incarcerated Indvidual Rights, Special Management, Restrictive Housing, Reception and Orientation, Classification, Food Service, Sanitation and Hygiene, Social Services, Re-Entry, Health Care, Work and Correctional Industries, Academic and Vocational Education, Recreation and Activities, Mail, Telephone and Visiting, Library Services, Religious Programs, and Policy. The ACA Accreditation Program Director conducts an annual review of each facility, Parole, Central Office and the Correctional Training Institute and their compliance to ACA standards. Every year, this review shall consist of a thorough facility inspection.
The Program Director actively participates in the ACA audit/mock audit process and represents the agency during this process. This position identifies best practices and makes recommendations for improvement as the result of audits and inspections.The Program Director is responsible for completion of the overall audit instrument and for the maintenance of the underlying documentation.This position assists IDOC facility personnel through the ACA audit process, to inlcude interfacing with officials from ACA, and facility policy writers to draft facility operational procedures, facility directives, and post orders as needed to ensure compliance. The Program Director acts as a technical assistant not only to the IDOC facilities but to stakeholders as well to clarify and interpret policy and procedure. This position will be required to assist in the training of facility/parole ACA Managers at Central Office and on location.
This division supports organizational and system changes as requested. The Program Director works collaboratively with senior leadership in establishing long-range policy and procedureal goals as needed in the audit process. This position ensures all ACA standards are being met which requires decision making and action (as needed) that will directly impact the incarcerated individual such as quality of life issues, conditions of confinement, etc. The Program Director reports any emergency information to the Director of the division.
Salary:

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
