Job summary

The Montana Hospital Association seeks a Program Director to coordinate the MRIT within Montana’s Rural Health Transformation Program. You will manage day-to-day operations, align timelines, deliverables, and compliance across MHA staff, partners, and subcontractors.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and able to lead large, multi-organization initiatives with experience in healthcare grants, rural health, and performance measurement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in a healthcare-related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in healthcare administration or related field.
  • Experience administering federal or state-funded healthcare grants, cooperative agreements, or government contracts.
  • Strong understanding of CAH operations and rural healthcare delivery.
  • Experience leading complex healthcare initiatives involving multiple organizations.
  • Experience overseeing healthcare data collection, performance measurement, analytics, or program evaluation.
  • Experience supervising professional staff.
  • Valid Montana driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

The Montana Hospital Association is seeking a Program Director to coordinate the work of the Montana RHTP Implementation Team (MRIT) as part of Montana’s Rural Health Transformation Program.

The Program Director will manage the day-to-day operations of MRIT, coordinating implementation activities across MHA staff, partners, and subcontractors. This position will help keep a complex, multi-year body of work organized and moving forward by managing timelines and deliverables, facilitating communication, monitoring progress, and supporting compliance with program and funding requirements.

We’re looking for someone who is highly organized, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple partners and priorities. Experience with healthcare programs, rural healthcare, grants or contracts, and large-scale project implementation will be especially valuable.

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Business Administration, Health Information Management, Finance, or another healthcare-related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in healthcare administration, hospital operations, rural health, healthcare consulting, program management, quality improvement, or a related healthcare field.
  • Demonstrated experience administering federal or state-funded healthcare grants, cooperative agreements, or government contracts.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Access Hospital (CAH) operations and rural healthcare delivery.
  • Experience leading complex healthcare initiatives involving multiple organizations and stakeholders.
  • Experience overseeing healthcare data collection, performance measurement, analytics, or program evaluation.
  • Experience supervising professional staff.
  • Valid Montana driver's license or ability to obtain one.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience administering HRSA, CMS, HHS, CDC, or other federally funded healthcare initiatives.
  • Experience supporting statewide rural healthcare transformation or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of healthcare finance, value-based care, and rural reimbursement methodologies.
  • Project management certification or equivalent project management experience.
