Job summary

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks a City Research Scientist to lead research and policy work within the Healthy Aging initiatives. You will support data-driven decision making, supervise project activities, and help translate findings into actionable programs with a focus on health equity.

Applicants should hold advanced degrees in health sciences and have strong writing and analytical skills to influence policy and practice in NYC health systems.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
• To be appointed to higher levels, a doctorate or a master's plus 3 years of research experience is required with 2+ years in some cases.
• Probationary period applies to certain appointments.

Responsibilities

• Strategize, develop, implement, and evaluate program initiatives for aging and equity.
• Conduct research and quantitative data analysis on public health initiatives including health insurance.
• Prepare reports and coordinate communication with internal and external partners.
